Hi, first post here. I've been watching for a few days and this forum appears to have some pretty good mechanics.
I have a 2001 200 HPDI that up until a few days ago ran flawlessly. I keep my boat in the water with the motor trimmed up out of it. The motor appears to idle fine, @600 RPMs, but when I throttle up the boat gets up on plane then the motor begins to lose RPM to the point that it will shut off if I don't throttle back to idle. It will start back up immediately. I checked and replaced the Racor (3213), checked and replaced the primer bulb, replaced the filter in the clear
bowl on the port side, checked the filter in VST (it was clean), checked and replaced the canister type filter downstream of the VST. Bypassed the onboard tank, Racor, and fuel line with a temporary tank with fresh gas. Checked the electric fuel pump pressure, it was 60 # idleing and when throttling up wiggled only a little then settled back to 60 # before the motor started losing RPM again. Checked the compression all cylinders within 1 # of 132 #. The O2 sensor element is a tan color and I didn't do anything to it except look at it. I replaced the spark plugs even though they were only a few hours old. The old ones appeared not quite tan and a little damp. The new ones after only about 15 minutes running, 95 % of which was idling past the ramps and other docks, also appeared not quite tan, a little darker than tan, and moist. I also checked the twin fuel pumps, the diaphragms appear to be in good shape. I haven't had the YDS thing done yet. What's my next avenue to pursue?
