Ok sorry...enough pirate stuff. Anyway I have a 1991 C55 and was not getting any water circulation so I took the lower unit off and had piles of shells, crap and actual barnacles inside and on the waterpump. Oil looked milky and watery so know oil seals are needing replacing too. Going to clean all this out and rebuild the pump. Not sure if water is even getting up to the pump....passages looked dry and corrodided. Can a blockage occur below the pump in the lower unit? Also noticed no water tube coming from the pump. Am I supposed to have one? Also what is the best thing to use to clean out the inside of the water passages? They need it...all crusty and build up....looks like it was never serviced before I got it.

You can remove the inlet screens from gearcase housing to inspect the water pump inlet. The water tube stays in it the mid housing when drop lower unit.

Ok got it all clean now and new impellar. Put lower unit back together but now when I try to start the motor the propellar turns . Acts like it's stuck in gear. Pulled lower unit back off and tried to turn the propellar by hand. Made a clicking noise and could feel the shift rod and drive shaft move. How do I get it back in neutral?
