Hello and thanks in advance for any input and/or advice you can provide.
We bought a new to us pontoon July 1 and threw a rod in the 2007? Yamaha F225TXR July 3 after 5 to 10 hours of use by us. Total engine hours are apx 120. The engine is under warranty.
The dealer said that Yamaha would not send a short block so received components, over $10,000 worth. They finished the repairs last Wed and water tested it. The repaired engine lasted less than 12 minutes and then "blew up". (Those were the service manager’s words.) There were no error codes. Both failures occurred at deceleration.
The dealership is not allowed to tear the engine down until the Yamaha rep comes to see it, which is scheduled for Aug. 29. However, they told the dealership to go ahead and order all of the same parts again.
Has anyone been successful in getting Yamaha to perform an engine exchange? Do you have any recommendations on how to get them to exchange it?
Does anyone have a contact number at Yamaha besides Customer Support in Atlanta (866.894.1626) or a way to speak to a supervisor?
Has anyone used a dispute settlement process with them?
We will sell the boat, at a big loss, if they insist on repairing this engine again because we will never trust it.
Thanks again for any help you can provide.
