Now that I have my temperature gauge installed, I need to know normal operating temp. range. At what temp. do the thermostats open?

Thermostats open at 118-126 deg. overheat sensor signals warning at 183-194 deg. -

According to my Yamaha shop manual for my 2000 C115, the thermostats start to open at 118-126 degrees. They are fully open at 140 degrees.
Don't be too concerned if your temp gauge is off a little
- my Teleflex that I installed shows thermostats regulate at 130 degrees - you are just looking for what is "normal" on the gauge.
If you want to get precise, you can calibrate the gauge and sensor in a pan of heated water and accurate thermometer, but it's really not necessary.

Ken, Thanks for the info. I did not install a water pressure gauge because I presently don't have room on the panel. I plan to change the whole panel next spring and I will install one then.Comment
