Hello, I am just starting a diagnostic case on a 90 HP Yamaha 2 stroke outboard. This entire rig is in excellent condition and has very low hours on it.
Out of the blue my customer states that his engine quit running right. When he described it over the phone I thought that maybe it was in limp mode but that no longer seems to be the case as there are no warning sounds present (the sound device does work, and can be manually triggered.
The oil reservoir is full, the tank has relatively fresh fuel, the Water is indeed flowing. The engine seems to idle fine, all 4 coils have healthy spark, all of the plugs are firing. Offhand it seems to be starving for fuel.
I am now on hold until I get the OEM service manual, so I figured I would throw this out to the forum to see if there is a common diagnosis on these.
Thank You for your time, Kirk.
