Hello,
I have a 2004 8hp 4-stroke. The other day the motor started going up by itself. I push the down button on the switch back on the motor and it would go down , but right back up after I released the button. I disconnected that switch and then tried the switch on the remote throttle control and it did the same thing. I pulled the fuse and it stopped , but I couldn't turn the motor over then. I put the fuse back in and it was fine, then the next day it didi it again. Someone said it may be the relay? Can these be cleaned? A new one is around $200.00 from the dealer!
