  • Yamaha F150 RPM problems

This past weekend was out on my 255 Sea Pro with twin 2004 F150 with 140 hours. Coming back in the port engine would not sync with the starbd engine. I could not get the RPMs from the port engine even wide open. If I backed down the stbd to match the port which was around 3500rpm the struggling port engine would continue to drop RPM. If I backed off the throttle on the Port engine then hammerd it wide open I could get it up to 4300 but then would drop right back off to around 3500 at WOT. Does anyone have any suggestions of what could be the problem???

Might be a restriction in the fuel going to that engine. Fuel bulb staying hard? Could try running off of a portable tank with a new line as a test. Then check the 10 micron and undercowl filters. Have you taken a sample from the VST?

Post back and let us know.

blocked vst filter will hold the eng back and on twins when one drops the other drops from the load. i would clean/ replace both vst filters it should be something you do as part of regular maintenance these days.
