200 hdpi no spark #2 & 3 cyl

Engine model #VZ200tlrz.

I took this engine to my dealer as it was low on power and running poorly.
They checked it over, compression was 120 on all cyls but had no spark on #2 or 3 cyl. They said they substituted new coils and still no spark. He is a fairly new dealer and didn't seem to be confident of the problem. They said it was most likely in the engine con*****er? aprox $1500 for the part.

Does this sound right? I'm use to the older engines and when you lost spark it was a power pack and cost a few hundred.

sounds like either they are testing in the N
position or the shift position switch is defective or unplugged.
its designed NOT to spark #2 and#3 at idle in nuetral.
above about 1400 your also going to lose 4 and 6 if the ECU "sees" its still in nuetral.
if you crank it up and the ECU sees its in gear and a crank signal is applied it will lock the max RPM to about 2200 or so.
remember NONE of the engine mounted switchs has anythig do do with can it crank up in gear or not.
that switch is located in the control box.
