  • Shaft seized in power head - Help!

I have 89 Yamaha 250 that the lower unit failed. I removed all bolts and the foot want drop down. After tapping with a hammer no luck and also tried wedges. The tried beating with a 5lb hammmer... no luck.

After trying everything to get it lose I cut the lower unit off... but left the shaft exposed. I have tried hammering on it, a air hammer and a porta power to get it to move and no luck.

Anyone have any tips or tricks to get the out?

3 fingers of grease once a year would have prevented this.
anyway, pull the power head, cut the shaft off as close to the crank as you can.
drill a hole in the shaft and tap it about 7/16ths x 14.
insert a stud and pull it out with a socket and a nut.
usually the crank splines are so badly damaged that crankshaft replacement is nessasary.
grease, once per year, will stop that.
    expensive lesson in lubricants/corrosion control.
