You might want take to your dealer and let them take a look at it. How high does the motor sit above water line is the exhaust relief holes (the holes just below engine at rear of cowling) 4 or 5 inches above water line, if not water may be coming in through exhaust and the motor would have to raised on boat

thanks ...we plan to take it to a dealer. Were looking for toughts and answers before we take it in. We have had the boat for several years and fish in it almost every weekend. The motor sits up pretty high. Also if it comes back thru the exaust it would end up on a piston and wouldn't start. It also doesn't blow with steam smoke when running. It's runs good.
thanks again. I'm hoping to stir up a little conversation and interest with this post.
      Have a great day

Hi I read about your water in the oil. This weekend I checked my oil after just changing it and I also have water in oil. This motor is a 2000 but has less than 160 hrs on a total factory warranty power head. I was wondering what the outcome of you problem was... Paul

I have read about this problem several times. Here are a few discussions on the subject.

I have a F115 four stroke and have water in mu oil but worse I also have excessive gas in my crankcase oil. Lab tested at 5%. You should smell your dipstick. The gas will delute the oil so badly that it will ruin the powerhead. Yamaha doesnt know how to fix it except replace powerheads----three already. Jim

I had a 2000 F115 that had the same problem back in 2000 and it was finally fixed in 2001. Not before my crankcase filled with seawater though. I was maybe Yamaha's first 115 with water in the oil so they didn't know what was up either. It's not condensation, it's cooling water that somehow leaks in around an oil pump seal. I don't know the details of the fix, but Yamaha should know by now. Get it fixed by a Yamaha authorised before the seal really fails and a fountain of foam comes out the dipstick hole.
