1987 Yamaha 70 ETLH Tach issue

My tach has suddenly stopped working and I have checked all wiring which seems to be good. The oil level and background light appear to be working properly. I'm told that the issue is more likely to be a bad rectifier than the tach. Is this a simple troubleshooting process or just easier to replace the rectifier? Is this the correct part?
