what is a shift switch?, how do I test it? what does it do? where is it located? can you give me part # for 2000 ox66 250 hp?

The shift switch is located on the shift control linkage where the cables from control box connect to engine. It can be checked with a OHM meter for continuity. The part number is 61A-8259F-00-00
