What is the tach setting for 1989 V4 115 with early digital tach that has 4, 6, 8, 12 on back?

at idal should be 700 - 800 full throttle 4500-5500 rpm *****ing rpm 600-700

Sorry, no I'm talking about the pole setting on the back of the tach. (early model digital)

Has 4 settings on back. 4-6-8-12. It is set to 8. Is that right for a 4 cylinder? And 12 for 6 cylinder? 6 for 3 cylinder? 4 for 2 cylinder?

Maybe just change it to each setting until you get a normal tach reading?

How do I know what's normal? 200-300 either way would be hard to tell. I need it accurate so I can get the right prop on this thing.
