  • power trim removal

On my 150 ceto 1992 the motor cover of power trim & tilt is rusted. IT IS WORKING FINE, but just to avoid future problems was my intention to remove the entire block and have it restored and painted. I have loosen and removed all bolts, disconnected the wires from the engine, BUT I could not take out from the engine the unit. I moved it up and down, twisted, NOTHING to do it doesn't come out. So I just brushed the rust off only were I could reach... the back side is impossible to reach !

IS THERE ANY SUGGESTION TO REMOVE IT ?

I would like to avoid to remouve the entire outbord from the transom in order to remove the power trim from the other side, but I think I would find same problem. May be I only would have more access to brush the rust off.

Also what happen if I succeded in removal only the motor cover with the power trim on place ? I mean I can try to unscrew the bolt of the cover (bottom side), and I wonder if there is any oil coming out. What about the carbon brush of the motor, would I find any problem to put them on site again ?

Thank you to anyone spending time to help me

remove the nut on the stbd side of the steering cable tube.
remove the bolts holding the stbd transom bracket.
    support the engine.
move the stbd transom bracket over and the unit comes out.

What Rodbolt17 said, I just this AM finished using his procedure on my
2000-2stroke Yamaha 60 hp. Replaced the bad electric motor and internal
filter, filled unit with new ATF, got all the air out of the unit, now it is back on the motor and ready to go, works like a charm.
