1989 70 ETLF Water Pressure Gauge

Does the Yamaha Water Pressure Gauge work with the 70 ETLF? I have it hooked-up and I just get a trickle of water in the tube. The engine runs great and I get a solid stream out the "pee hole". I got a feeling that the hook-up on the block is only for the temp gauge, not the pressure gauge.

the 60 and 70 two strokes use a high volume low pressure system.
its specifically reccomended NOT to use a water pressure guage.
