Oil Gauge not working

First post!! Anyone have any suggestions as to what to look at on my 2000 yamaha 225 2 stroke oil gauge?
Its shows full and its not.
I Also do not get the engine alarm on start up when you turn the key?
I checked the fuses and they look good/ It there a fuse under the cowling?
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Okay I have narrowed it down I think??
I removed the sending unit on the engine oil tank and the key switch alarm worked when I took out the sending unit. Still don't know why on start up it does not buzz?
I then disconected the main oil tank and the gauge went to 1 blinking bar but no alarm sounded, so i think its the sending unit on the main tank???
Does anyone have any history with these units????
