  • Valve pressure control

I have purchased a PCV for Yamaha Z200TXRY and need advice on installation. The new PCV sent to me is different from the one removed from the outboard. The new PCV has a rounded side and a post side. Different from the one removed, which has a post on each side.

Does the post side face the spring or does it face the rubber grommet???

The piece fits nicely either way but am still having trouble overheating at low speed the way I chose to install.

usually its the grommet thats bad not the valve.
the new design the post fits in the spring.

Thanks for the help. While installing the new grommet, the old one fell into the engine through the hole it sets in. Do I have to worry about this affecting the engine cooling system or will the rubber grommet get flushed out on its own?

it needs to be retrieved or it will cause circulation problems , and will not go away by itself are my thoughts

          Accessing the pcv

Is it common practice to remove the lower cowling to access the PCV?

i would suggest removing comp cover, then wires @ bottom,
            then access PRV

Be sure you stretch the spring out some before you install, I have gotten several to stop over heating that way.

                DO NOT stretch the spring.
                what a crock load.
                DO retrive the grommet.
its easily done with a bent coat hanger.
it can be done without removing anything else.
that spring is what controls the water pressure.

Well, well, glad I'm not the only one that's lost the grommet in the hole. I used safety wire bent with a hook on the end. I'm with JB take off the cover and remove the connectors. I tried it without taking anything off and lost the grommet in the hole. Shitfist here...

What is the "comp cover?" My big hands were pretty wore out after accessing the valve last time, and I need some more working room.
When I lost the grommet it fell deep and was not vissible. I have already run the engine with the lost grommet and am pretty sure it is not sitting where I can see it anymore. I dont think it is causing a problem right now. I can get the engine to idle at normal temerature but running it fast then stopping produces overheating at low speed/idle again. I am thinking about sanding down the edges of the poppet valve so it will not hang up on its sides. Any thoughts?

The spring is new and pretty stiff. It is also hard as hell to compress with the two finger I am able to get into the work space, so I dont think it needs to be stretched.

Comp cover is ECU cover. Screws are real tight and you probably need an impact screw driver. Buy a new poppet valve; they're cheap and better design. You need to get that grommet out.
