  • Yamaha 150TXRB timing questions

2003 150HP carbureted OB stamped "150TXRB". SELOC Repair Manual lists 150A, C150TR, and other models with different prefix and suffix letters with different timing specs from each other, but none listed for my model. Year and HP rating suggest 9 degrees ATDC running, and WOT measured statically at 23 - 25 degrees BTDC. Actually reads TDC on timing light on cylinder 1. Adjusted the magneto control lever to move the timing from ~ 9 degrees BTDC to TDC but cannot adjust to ATDC at all. Idles rough about 700 RPM and does not really smooth out at increased throttle. Compression 115 - 120 all cylinders with engine cold. Still may have carburetor problems ( it has 3) but want to remove and rebuild carbs only if necessary.

    Thanks,
    John

now that ya dinky dankd with the timing.
you still MUST fix the fuel system.
what would posess anyone to dinky dank with a fixed mechanical screw that simply CANNOT change?
now once you finnish fixing the fuel system, now ya gotta go fix the mess up you have induced.
static timing is like a teat on a boar hog.
once set, two stroke timing on a 150 carbed motor will be set for life, until some one places the skinners on it.
