age my outboard

How do i find out the age and model of my outboard? All i know is that its a yamaha, 40hp, 2 stroke, electric.
I just found this number on a plate 40HE 6H4 L 351814. can anyone please help me?

Hi,
My data, gleaned from the internet, shows serial number 351 197 being 1985. The rate was about 1,000 per year, so I would estimate yours at 1986, but if a more reliable source turns up - believe them!

it looks about those ages, a was thinking it was about 84-85. its just i need new parts for it but i dont know where to get them or even what model am looking for

Try your local Yamaha dealer, since it is not a US model I take it you are not here in the states.
