Yamaha dual station adjustment

I have a 1999 Yamaha dual station setup. I was working on fuel issues and pushed the button to be able to fast idle the engine. When I was finished, the engine would not shift into gear. I do not know if something is out of adjustment or if I have a bad sensor. I have tried to adjust the cable at the override and have had no luck. Now the engine will not start and i occasionally have an alarm. Whatd do I need to check at this point?

Are you sure the button on control box lever didn't stick in and has the shift disengaged on controls?

I thought that may be the problem at first. I checked that and it looks fine. The shift works with ingnition on engine off, but does not work with engine running.

I have gotten everything adjusted and operating properly with the key on/engine off. When the engine is running, no shifting action occurs. No alarms, no movement, nothing. What could be the problem?
