  • To Rodbolt 17

Rodbolt 17, thanks for your instructions on spreading the starboard bracket
to remove the PT&T from my Yamaha motor. I used your procedure your had written several years ago. Man, the PT&T motor had a corrosion hole about the size of an old silver dollar, its a wonder it ran as long as it did.

I do not have access to a hot acetylene gas flame, would just a propane flame
heat up of the bolts holding the PT&T motor do any good to prevent breaking
    on removal?

      Mapp

You might try Mapp gas with a turbo torch... Most of the time I use my acetylene turbo torch. I think Rodbolt uses oxy-acetylene, but not sure. The trick is to expand one component with a "quick " heat. Mapp burns hotter than propane, but not as hot as acetylene.

        Need to vent???

Thanks guys. Do I need to vent the hydraulic fluid in the PP&T unit when I
try heating the motor bolts with my propane torch? I have cotton soaked in PB Blaster on top to the bolts now, plan to soak for 24 hrs or until I can get rid of this dang upper respiratory bug.
