Prop Selection

I just installed a 2004 Yamaha 4 Stroke, 40 hp on a 24' aluminum pontoon boat. I do not have a tachometer. Can anyone suggest what pitch propeller would be best for this application.

The motor currently has a prop with a AM907 number on it but this was not chosen for the pontoon boat.

I am interested in getting a low cost tach. Any recommendations for this three cylinder four stroke.

Probably need the lowest pitch prop available which is the 8 pitch, 63D-45941-00-00 12 1/4 X 8 Alum Prop
