I just replaced the rectifier that was on my 1985 70hp. before, there was absolutely NO movement (other than down of course) of the voltage while motor was running. i hooked up my multimeter to the batt and took her for a cruise after installing.
Dont get me wrong, it charges. but man it charges slow. the increments in which it charges, and the voltage that it pumps is pretty slack. it works, but im wondering, is there a beefed up way to charge? wide open throttle it charges kind of slow. at idle it doesnt really charge. but i guess the timeframe from 11.60 to 12.0 v at wot is prob a few minutes. just seems a little slow to me.
is it just a weak charging system?
