i did not get the motor off, i removed the foot, the powerhead and stripped the midsection to clean the oil pan.
with a little bit of mechanic skills it is pretty simple, just be carefull when you put everything back together, respect all the clearences and bolts torque specs.
i use only oe parts, i had pretty bad experiences with aftermarkets cranks and pistons.

not designed for that much debris.
Most auto filters have a bypass. Filter clogs and bypass opens. Wonder howcome that didn't happen?

Is Yamaha covering upgrades for non-commercial motors? Therre's a bunch out there.

yamaha is getting tough on replacing balancers out of warrenty.
since the 08 run the balancer design flaw was corrected.
07 and older had the issues.
my balancer on my 07 f150 failed at 139 hours but <i know what I am listening to and changed it before it destroyed anything.
however when the fibre gear desintegrates it fills the oiling system with debris and it overwhelms the filter and the bypass-pressure regulator.
