The service manual for my 02 Yamaha F115 shows an anode located under the value cover. The boat is moored in a slip for the summer. I guess my question would be, is it worth pulling the value cover to inspect the anode or is this something that rarely needs replacing? Any help would be appreciated.

then remove them.
DO NOT attempt to remove the 10mm headed hex bolt.
remove the 12mm headed hex bolt that holds the anode holder to the block.
now we may have to make 2 "special" tools.
take two long thin standard screwdrivers.
lock the first 3/8 of an inch in a vise.
use oxy/acetylyne to make it glow at the vice jaws.
bend it 90*.
now you can use these tools to remove them thar stucked amnodes thingys.
then carefully clean the bore.
then lock the anode holder in a vise, carefully.
then grab the anode with vise grips and unthread the anode.
then and ONLY then attempt to remove the 10mm headed hex bolt.
use a good water proof grease, quicksilver special lube 101 is wonderful, to coat the new anode holder orings on reasssmbly.
I use gel seal on the 10mm headed hex bolt threads to keep the anodes from viberating off.
IF you attempt to remove that 10mm headed bolt first, odds are way above high you will twist the head off.
