Tell tail water

Hi All, just got my imported Pioneer Cape Island 186 with Yammie F150. I put my outboard muffs on to run it and had no water come out my telltail after a minute running. Prussure good at the muffs, and water steams coming out other galleries in lower leg. Removed alternate flushing port on left side of moter and with motor running was good water pressure pumping out of connection. Lower leg impellor = good .

Thought there might be apossiable blockage at tell tail when shipped. Placed 200lb monofiliment line up but felt all good until it hit the cooler assembly(fuel/water brass block) and didnt go any further.

Traced water line back around to upper exhaust plate and tried to remove the water line out only to snap the brass fitting(Hose nipple still in hose when it came off!!!) (can i get the hose fitting seperate as the parts breakdown dosnt list a seperate item and need whole exhaust cover)Tried running with hose off to see if there was a blockage from exhaust plate to cooler assembly after a minute still no water??

My next call was to pull out thermostat? Any other suggestions?

quit chasing ghosts or hunting snipe.
its rather normal.
its also why I DO NOT run my F150 on a flusher.
I use both the ear muffs and the engine mounted flusher when I flush my F150.
its kinda how they are.

I didnt think you can run the outboard and use the alternative hose connection on the left of the motor? I havnt owned a yammie for a few years since my carby f40, I didnt get the yamie outboard owners book with the boat so havnt read the users manual.

Regardless I would of thought the tell tail should work all the time wether either connection i used?

Did you notice he said both.

Do not run the motor with only the engine mounted flusher hooked up to water.

ONLY way I have ever had my F150 have a tell tale when using the ears is if I tightly bungee cord the muffs to the case.
its the way the case curves.

Thanks for the replies. I connected the hose to the alternate flushing port and started motor. The water pumped out of my beoken brass fitting which then goes around the engine , through the fuel cooler and out of the tell tail.

Chasing a Ghost so it seems!!

Now for the upper brass hose fitting just below the thermostat.



The parts breakdown does not show the hose fitting as a seperate item from the outer exhaust cover plate. Thinking of braising/soldering the snapped fitting back together unless I can get the part seperately.

If not it looks like I up for a new outer exhaust plate cover.

Any ideas?

I think its the same size as the water fittings on the cyl head of a 2003 T9.9.

thanks for the info and time reading my posts. Do you know if you can unscrew them us its round and you canot get a spanner on it?
Maybe pressed?
I havnt taken my outer exhaust plate to investigate further yet as I wont do until I confirm my local yammie dealer has a gasket to replace.

its pressed in.
can be carefully removed with locking pliers.
use OMC gel seal or its equivalent when reinstalling.
yes they can be silver soldered.
your not the first person to break one messing about.

Just want to say a BIG THANKS to Rodbolt17 for his answers to my questions and info on fixing my little problem.

Ordered the part, gasket gel and took 5 minutes to fix!!!!

Looking for the Coolant Hose Nipple

I know it has been a few years since ya'll posted on here about this, but I was wondering where you found that Hose Nipple. I have tried ordering it from my local Yamaha dealer and the 1 they ordered is way too big. I am looking for the hose nipple that is in the picture that Happy1gilmore posted on 4/22/2011 at 10:48pm. It is located at the top of the outer exhaust plate cover.
