Unknown 60hp model number

I recently bought a flats boat from a friend of mine. He told me that the motor was 1998 60hp 2 stroke. The stamped sticker on the transom bracket is unreacable. How can I confirm the year and determine which model it is? I've looked at lists and see that for 1997 and 1998 there are several 60hp motors. I need to either rebuild this motor or get a short block but can't till I know which one I have. Thanks
