the alternator thing is an inside joke!!! Rod has a very dry sense of humor.
But he is a great Yamaha Tech. And he really knows his junk about out boards. He seems to be under the impression that these motors are dirt simple to diagnose, I have found other wise, for most people. Like anything, if you really know your stuff, it makes things go much quicker and smoother. So whats simple for him, is very complex for most others, and that includes other Yamaha Master Techs. The TPS does not go bad so much as needs adjusting.
