if the wiring from the driver to the ECU tests ok then I would start with the driver.
no good tests avalible, however with jumper leads, a DVM and some test leads it can be bench tested.
its a simple 12v dc switching device.

i have jumpered to ground the blue/red wire on the driver plug. the fuel pump operates to fill the VST and the motor runs correctly (hmm). I have tested the B/W continuity to ground. I found the B/W performed as required, open then closed (to ground) 10 sec. The driver must then be the failure item in the system. I got one on order.

I paused before i ordered the driver because the Merc dealer said that they have not ordered one in 6 years and the $200. Perhaps if I checked with the Yam dealer the story might be different. Rodbolt (et al) any comment on the # of those that you see go bad. My research finds Yam use that switch on many HP models.

that driver unit was only used on the yamaha F200 and F225 until the 03 model.\
in 03 it was a different unit.
as far as I recall I have seen 2 driver unit failures since about 2000.
there was a recall of the 03 and some 04 driver units due to battery overcharging.
only issue with the small black driver was occasionally power surges when operating the trim would interfere with its operation.
there is a fix for that as well.

what/how is the fix. I sure don't want to blow another $200 relay on a fixable glitch.

I tore the potting material out of the relay. There is a ckt board with the wires & three components soldered down. no apparent loose connections.

on that engine thre were only 2 90 code recalls.
one for the throttle linkage assy on the fwd stbd side and another for the 3 throttle arms on top of the engine.
the lead assy as a case by case and only was needed if the engine stumbled/shuddered after using the trim.
the lead assy was only applicable to the small square driver that yamaha did NOT use after 2002.
so its no worries about trashing anything.
the lead assy fix was a simple EMI filter that plugged into the harness between the driver. yours may have it or never needed it.

Hello - Same problem, of course replaced fuel pump first since the I was getting 12 volts to the pump motor... Who ever heard of con*****ing something with the ground... Now that I have read more I realize its a connector, driver or ECU.

I have searched the engine and my electrical diagrams and cannot locate the LP Pump Driver can someone point me to it so I can check out if my B/W is cycling?

                      Thanks!

Many electrical and electronic devices are con*****ed with the ground side of the circuit. Where have you been the last 30 or maybe more years?

Start you own new thread. Provide the complete model of your motor. Your model might not even have a standalone fuel pump driver. Not all Yams are the same.

Describe the problem you are having.

can somebody tell me the part number I need for my trucks altenator???????
                          HELP??????
                          its a ford.

but even on this antique thread, notice how long it took to find out it WAS NOT a Yamaha, it was a mercury.

I don't know the part number but a Lucas alternator might just do the trick.

lucas didn't work for jaguar nor MG.
there is a reason we called Lucas the prince of darkness .

I had an Austin Healy Sprite a few years back. I think it used Lucas stuff as well.

At my age and lack of nimbleness now I doubt that I could get in and out of the car.

The British are reported to have developed RADAR. Yet they apparently could not figure out simple 12 volt DC system.
