the b/w whire is the driver switching wire.
will be either pin 44 or 16 at the ECU.
the ECU toggles the driver below 1200 RPM to cylce the ground path off for 20 seconds and on for ten seconds.
low pressure pump ground should be present for 10 seconds at key on power.
unless the ECU commands(grounds the B/W) the pump "on" you wont show a ground path.
next thing I need is YOU to look at the driver connectors, drive unit side.
    post what color they are.

Driver connector is red/yellow, black, blk/white and blue/red. I chased the b/w wire to the ECU #16.

BTW when the power is added and measured across the pump plug (red/yellow to blue/red) i get a blip of what look like mili-voltage and then 0V.

        not what I asked.
I know the wire colors I WANT to know the connector colors.

All boatmangc is telling you is you still have not given the proper model # of your motor, look at the label on the motor bracket and post it the way it is shown

You are right, I took it entirely the *%#ing wrong way. Boatmangc please excuse my misunderstanding. Think boatmangc misunderstood my post with his quote of rodbolt earlier as I was specifically looking for clarification on the B/W wire.

The cards are on the table I have a black Yamaha, labeled mercury. My “real” Yamaha was pilfered a year ago. I figured what could be so bad, what thief wants a merc. Probably will get scold by rodbolt and laughed at by other at the ramp. I got thick skin.

Anyway the model is #225XL 4ST (25” shaft) of my merc-ya-hal.

the only difference between the yamaha and the merc F225 in o3 was the hood, lower pan and paint color.
however the difference between an 02 model and the 03 was a big one.
the driver on the 03 model was mounted on the lower pan with two screws, has 4 wire bundles with 4 connectors.
the 02 and previous drivers were small black boxs.
if you have an 03 and the driver is mounted on the lower pan with two bolts then I need to know the colors of the driver connectors.
there was a recall on the first ones.
for yamaha its a 90 code, means its regaurdless of warrenty status.
dunno if merc will still honor that.

Rodbolt, I am going to be descriptive for my sake, my 03, has a hard plastic Black box (as described) on the lower cowling. The mitsubishi driver has one bolt hole, with PUR (poly-eurithane rubber potting) and white “rocks” exposed on the underside. It has the four wire configuration at the Driver connector is red/yellow, black, blk/white and blue/red all in a flat row at the driver, and into a rubber grommet with several holes. The pigtail from the driver is terminated on a black plug with black seal on the wire side and yellow plastic on the interior “hold down clips” for the female plugs in figure 4 configuration, with an orange rubber gasket for moisture barrier. Hope this helps.

                        its not an o3.
at least not a yamaha 03.
last of the small square plastic drivers in the yamaha production model run was 2002.
the 2003 and up used an integrated regulator rectifier LP fuel pump driver with 4 seperate wire bundles coming out and was mounted with 2 screws to the lower pan.
the driver tech bulliten doesnt apply to that issue.

The label lies to me as the 2003 date is clearly on the label and 03 in a little black box on the bottom of the label.

                              I dont think anyone lied.
I just dont know what Yamaha sold mercury marine.
however for the Yamaha 2003 production run I do know what was on the engine.
what merc bought I have no clue.
but your system description matchs the 02 and earlier yamaha production units.

looking at the part model i concur. it matches the 02 not the 03. Back to the issue. what do think would cause the low pressure pump not to get ground from the ecm. could the driver cause this issue. the manual states to replace this item if the test does not show positive results. Then replace the ecu.
