4 hp Yamaha vs. 4 hp Mariner???

Hello All;

I have a 1992, 4 hp, Yamaha 2 stroke, short shaft, 4MSHQ 6E0 S.
I just bought a Mariner 4 hp, 2 stroke long shaft. 4ML 6E0 L.
They "look" identical, are they in fact identical??? I want the longer shaft. The Mariner has the lower unit all taken apart.
If they are identical, can I switch the mid and lower unit around?

Any and all thoughts or comments appreciated.

Not sure, Mariner did use some Yamaha outboard's but have no way of knowing if parts will interchange or if they are same models.
