No water from telltale when flushing

2003 225 4 stroke. Water flows from telltale when motor is running. When hooking up water to flush, water exits lower unit points but not at the telltale. Any suggestions? Thanks

Using factory hookup.

If using the hose hook up at the cowling I hope you are not running the motor while doing the flush as that is not recommended by Yamaha as it can hurt the water pump from running dry.
Sorry, but I am not sure if you are suppose to get water out of tell tail while just running water through that fitting

If your thermostats are stuck open it can have this issue

Have twin motors, one is fine and only one motor has the issue. Flushing is done with motors off,and has been working ok since 2003. Will replace thermostats for the affected motor. I thought if water was flowing when motor is running (from telltale) Thermostat was out of the equation. Thanks for the info

Replaced both thermostats and all is well. Thanks for the help.
