  • Gear position sensor switch change

Hi Guys I need to replace my Gear position sensor switch as it has been malfunctioning on my F225 4 Stoke EFI. Can anyone let me know the exact procedure to do so as my mech says changing it can effect the engine timing.

    Thanks in advance

    find another mokanik.
    simply change the switch.
its a simple on/off micro switch that does not control ign timing.
ign timing is mainly a function of the TPS during normal running.
there are 2 switches on that shift slide.
one for shift position the other for shift cut out.
the position switch tells the ECU if in or out of gear.
the shift cut tells the ECU an attempt is being made to shift to N position and misfire the engine.
    both are simple on/off switches.

And have the NEW mechanic check your control cables, your shift cable might simply be stiff and not returning to where it did when it was new and moved easily.
