Jazz,
There should be some kind of rigging instructions that came with that Yamaha gauge.
There is a temp sensor (thermistor) that screws into the top of either cylinder assy. My 2000 C115 came with both holes plugged with a nut and gasket. You can install either a water pressure tube fitting or a temp sensor (or both) and use either of these threaded holes.
I used a Teleflex temp gauge and had to buy a temp sensor separately. Then I had to buy a Yamaha adaptor nut - one that had a threaded hole in it to fit the hole in the top of the cylinder assy. You should be able to buy a Yamaha temp sensor that will fit directly into the hole.
You only need one wire from the sender to the gauge - I picked up an unused wire in the existing harness. You may be able to do the same, but I don't know which wire to tell you because I used the "low oil warning" wire since mine is a pre-mix. You need the rigging instructions for your model outboard - that's what I used to determine which wire to pick up in the harness. Could be all of the wires in your harness are being used - in that case you will have to run a wire yourself from the motor to the gauge.
Also, on mine, I had to use the port side hole since it was lower than the starboard for clearance between the top of the sender and the inside of the top cowling (hood). The Yamaha sender may be shorter, in which case you could install in either side.
Good luck,
Ken K
