Oil pump sensor

Is there a test to check the sending sensor on oil tank at the motor? Motor is a 2004Yamaha 150 hp 2 stroke. I can fill with the manual emergency switch, so I know the pump is working. It filled automaticlly a couple times, so seems to be intermittant problem.
