  • 200HP rythmatic noise

I'm looking at buying a 2004 Ranger 190VS with a Yamaha 200Vmax.We test drove it yesterday and above 4000 rpm it had a slight rythmatic noise. It ran fine and no vibrations. Is this anything to be concerned about? RoyBoy

Hard to say what you are hearing, might have a compression test run on it.

It's very hard to say for sure, but my 90HP had a similar noise/rattle and I checked everything under the cowl and found one of the throttle/shifter control cables vibrating at certain RPM's. Easy fix with a tie-wrap. Maybe look under your cowl for cables, hoses or wires vibrating at a certain harmonic fequency. Good Luck!

on supposed Vmax engines, ALWAYS post a full model number.
yamaha placed Vmax decals on a few DIFFERENT models that happened to be the same horse power.
the VZ was a different animal than the VX.
but witout actually hearing the noise I cant help.
        sorry.
        could even be hull noise.
