There's a bunch of websites that explain this. Printed a post a while ago complete with pics but don't have in anymore. Believe it was from a Salt Water Fishing forum. Bet if you Google "cleaning Yamaha VST" there would be a bunch of hits. SIM's is a direct business competitor of the owners of this forum. Might be a bit tacky putting their name out there, IMHO.1999 Grady Sailfish SX225 OX66

Can't help but notice an opportunity. An ambitious tech would set out to market a DVD showing maitenance chores on the various model engines. Got 'em for Harley's, cars, etc. How come it hasn't been done?1999 Grady Sailfish SX225 OX66

Each engine model and year is different plus how much would you pay maximum for a DVD on how to do only a few procedures?
Liability is super high as you are showing untrained and possibly clueless people how to work around electrical components along with highly inflammable gasoline under pressure and around moving parts on the engine. That is a lawsuit waiting to happen. That is one reason that factories do not tell people how to work on their motors. Talk to any attorney for more details.Last edited by seahorse5; 02-26-2011, 03:49 PM.

first, you can open the drain plug let it drain in a cup. The fuel will be discolered becuse its mixed with the oil. For a quik fix you can bend the nozzle of some carb cleaner and stick thru the drain hole. If you are serios about doing this yourself you need to be changing the other 2 filters at the same time.
first diconect battery
you will see 3 large mount bolts, 2 at top one on bottom
take these out watch there are large washers on the backside also
next you can swing the tank out enough now to get to the top screws that split the tank. the back screws are tough but now that you can swing it out get a long narrow screwdriver to sneak in there for the 2 tough ones.
Take the tough ones out first.
once all are out pull the bottom part of tank down and away.
The pump should stay in top section of tank and also the float.
the filter is on the bottom of pump, the filter swings out to take it off.
its really not that bad

thats about all there is to it.
the reason for no good video?? I cant show you on a video how to use oxy/acetylyne to heat out a VST or carb bowl screw nor how to heat a bearing carrier out or how to heat the sheared drive key for the water pump that the customer chewed off then brought it in.
salt water is not school house stuff.
