I have an F90 outboard jet and the length of my winter layup depends on ice conditions on the river. That usually means I am off the water for no more than 2 consecutive months give or take a few weeks. Aside from fuel stabilizer is it really necessary to do a full winterization with such a short layup? Thanks!

Winterize for a short layup?

I think that's a good question because I use my boat(90HP Yamaha 2 stroke) a few times during the winter maybe every 6 or 8 weeks like you, so I never really "winterize" it as such, but I do use a good strong dose of Stabil Marine to be sure my fuel system stays clean and fresh. I crank the motor up on the muffs every now and then and run it for a few minutes. If I lived in the frozen North where the boat was really laid up for the entire winter then I'd definitely fog it and winterize it completely.
