Hello Ladies and Gents
I am the pround owner of a Yamaha 25HP 2-stroke Outboard. I am based in Portsmouth (Gosport) on the south coast of the UK.
I have a number of questions but firstly I need to find the year. I searched through all previous threads on this topic and most deal with a four letter code which might only refer to the American market?
The port side engine plate has the following:
. . . . . . . . . . . . Yamaha 25NE0
. . . . . . . . . . . . 6L28. L.450002
Secondly, when changing from Forward to Reverse (astern), even though I hold in neutral for 4 or 5 seconds, the dogs clatter and clatter until it finally engages with a huge CLUNK and this needs to be addressed.
Although there seems to be an electric starter and that when the engine is running the battery charges well at 14 volts, I cannot find a wiring diagram to discover how the key start wiring works or is laid out. I start the engine on the cord and it does not matter if the key is turned on or off? I stop the engine with the kill switch pull-cord.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with any or all of the above please?
Thank you in advance.
