  • Oil sensor within ECU not working

    Hi all,
I have a 1999 Boston Whaler Outrage with twin original 200's on the back.
One shut down whilst running the other day and the engineer says the sender within the ECU (?) which automatically detects that the oil header tank needs topping up from the main oil store, and fills it, has stopped working.
Apparently I need a replacement ECU, which leads to three questions:

    1) Can it be mended? (I am in the UK)
    2) If not can one buy a replacement cheaply?
    3) How would you go about it?

Anyone who can help, your advice would be much appreciated; I know i can manually intervene to top up the header tank but I would like both engines operating normally.

    Kind regards all

    Jamie Truscott

You may need to do some testing yourself to make sure of your problem, this may help, but from what I understand low oil does not shut down a motor but limits the RPM. And all Yamaha does is monitor the oil level not flow
