  • 2004 50 hp TLR 2 stroke Intermittent start

I have a 50 hp TLR 2 stroke that runs fine one time and the next it won't fire and the trim won't move, I can tap on the solenoid and it will start working fine. My guess it is the solenoid that needs to be replaced.

my guess is you have a bad connection or a bad cable.
the trim relay gets its 12V + from the battery side of the start relay, as does the key switch and the trim switch.
even if the relay failed or the ground or brown wire was off the trim would still work.

Which cable or connection would you recommend checking

When you say will not fire, does that mean it will turn over but has no spark?

Checking with a volt meter will show a voltage drop at the problem area when the problem is occurring if it will not turn over.

battery, cables ,and connections on relay, etc.
