50hp Cuts out when engaging gear

My 50 hp two stroke 1999 recently started cutting out when i engage gear. It idles fine and revs up but as soon as i engage forward or reverse it dies!!! Any thoughts?

Check the compression of all cylinders and then the timing.
If that is all good then more than likely you need to clean the carbs
