high pressure pump

has anyone ever change the oil in the high pressure fuel pump on a hpdi,what type of oil did you use,how easy is it to do

yes I have.
use the same oil as the gearcase.
very easy to do, rather messy.
procedure depends on if its a 2.6l HPDI or a 3.3L hpdi.

look at the stbd side of the pump, look fow two 12mm hex bolts with a screwdriver slot.
remove the upper and the lower. when the lower comes out the oil drains just like a lower unit.
to refill.
fill from the bottom until oil flows from the top.
install the upper plug,remove the fill hose from the lower and install the lower plug.

will the hose for the lower unit be the same size

same size thread on the HP pump plugs as the lower unit plugs.
the 3.3L uses a twin pump at about 1100 PSI vs the single pump at about 625 PSI.
the 2.6 and 3.3 HPDI engines operate on the same principle.
thats about all they have in common.
