  • Tach wiring

I have an '05 50TLRD on my boat that came with a 7000rpm Telex tach with no low oil & overheat lights on it. It is eratic & unreliable. I bought a Yamaha tach 6y7-83540-80-80which has the low oil & overheat lights on it. I have a Sealoc manual but it does not show any tach wiring.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram with that on it so I possibly could hook up the lights & tach correctly?

I'm curious. Where does the tach pick up the signal from for the rpm's ?

your going to need the trim/oil harness 68f-82553-xx-00.the XX indicates length which is user required.
you will also need adapter 6y5-85335-10.
look at page 6-25 and page 7-25,25 of the 07 marine tech guide.
    will tell all.

its a technical guide sent to all yamaha dealers, now each tech that is registered with the yamaha training program will also recieve one.
used to be sent out yearly and given out at the yearly seminars.
the seminars are done with but they say now we will get bullitens and updates quarterly.
but your local yamaha dealer will have a copy or access to it.
