Is the "normal" reading for the thermal switches (1993 250TXRR) open circuit or closed circuit? If they are a variable resistance, what is the correct resistance value range?

    Thanks - Greg

    Greg,
The thermo switches are normally open. They are designed to close at around 185 degrees. No variable resistance in between.
    Good luck,

Thanks. I have one with a broken lead and have been waiting 3 weeks for replacments. Looks like I should be able to run the motors with the open circuit while I wait if I watch the temps close.

        Greg,
I have a temp gauge sensor mounted in the top of the starboard cylinder assy on my 2000 C115. I had the thermo switch on the port side go bad (was closing at 130, giving me false overheat signal), so I just replaced it with the good one from the starboard side until I could get a new one in. Heck, I ran it that way for several months. I had protection on both sides of the V-block. You might consider doing the same until you get the new one in.
        Good luck,
        Ken K
