  • Yammie cv30 2 stroke or Evinrude e-tec 30

Hi Guys, Brand new to this forum and live down under in Auckland.
I have a 4.2 metre open (tiller steer) Aussie boat. And want a new 30hp to put on the back of it. We can still buy carburated 2 strokes down here, and have been offered a new Yamaha cv30 for $NZ 4.3K, and an Evinrude e-tec 30 for $NZ 6.75K with cashback. I dont really want a 4 stroke due to weight ( I have to manually push this boat round the back of my house for storage) and torque (Towing kids on kneeboards etc.) as well as maintenance costs.
The Yammie is old tech and from what I read doesn't like accelerating hard if they've been idling for a while, is more thirsty and needs more maintenance. The Evinrude doesn't need maintenance for 300 hrs, is much more economical, kinder to the environment, but is much more expensive.
    Are modern Evinrudes reliable?
Should I go for the old school simple but reliable Yamaha or the higher tech Evinrude?

    Tony
