Undecided Yamaha 25 2-Stroke or Evinrude Etec 25 HP
Undecided Yamaha 25 2-Stroke or Evinrude Etec 25 HP
I am Undecided between a 2009 (new with 2 year warranty)Yamaha 25 2-Stroke or Evinrude Etec 25 HP (2011). The Yamaha is 376.00 bucks cheaper. It is going to go on a 14' Crestliner. I am leaning towards the Yammy!
I don't know. Tough question.
The Yamaha is lighter by about 50 lbs, but the E-Tec is injected.
Also Evinrude has a promo going on where you get 5 years extended warranty included at no charge. Yamaha gives you 2 years, so for $376 you have 5 years. Not a bad deal.
Wouldn't touch the Rude. Betcha they won't be around much longer. The Japanese have market share. Bet we'll see the Koreans also in the market in the future.
Just to correct the previous post, all E-TEC's come from the factory ready to use any TC-W3 oil. They use much less oil, and they do not smoke, than traditional 2-stroke motors.
There is an optional Reduced-Oil setting that a dealer can perform at a customer's request that allows the use of XD-100 synthetic oil at a lesser rate.
