I have two 225C's with 60 hours on them. I keep the motors titled up when docked and just noticed that on one engine, oil leaked down through the tube that carries all of the wires and cables out of the motor (tube goes from motor to a hole in transom, oil leaked down through tube onto transom). Could this be due to running the engine with an improperly inserted dipstick? Or does this sound like a seal failure? I think that I had recently checked the oil on the one egine that had the leak, so that is why I wonder if I just did not have the dipstick in correctly. Engine seems to run fine. I thought that I would clean out the oil, make sure the dipstick was in, and then run it to see if it happened again. Or would you advise against this trial and error method?
