transom question

I have a 1999 key largo 222 w/f225 2005 it has a v-notch in the transom. My quetion is this: the boat sits very low in the water aft and swamps very easily, and water level on the motor is to the bottom of the cowl. I assume it is due to this not being the motor that was oringanlly on the boat[and heavier]..If i enclose the transom and add a outboard bracket would this give me more floatation and keep my motor from swamping?

also would like to re-power with twin f150 in the future any suggestions on if this would be a good set up

Adding a bracket could possible make it worse as the weight will be moved back away from any flotation that you have.
