by this time the bowls are off and on the bench.
if the bowl is equipped with the 10mm brass hex drains, those cross drilled brass things rot with age.
occasionally they twist off for no apperant reason.
luckily they are typically easy to get out.
kinda like the big brass plugs on the top of the carb body.
occasionally the carb casting cracks on removal.
there is NOTHING under that plug other than the idle transfer ports.
typically NO gasoline sits there anyway.
so if it did not sink I typically dont remove them.
gotta use some common sense then understand what and how this carb works then they get simple.

Up here in the North East we have to winterize our boats. Typically that includes draining carb bowls, les you have problems during commisioning.

I did my new to me 2stroke 5hp toro snowblower

It had alot of crap almost jello! Very yucky. When I went to tighten the bottom drain on carb it snaped off inside. Looked like cheap pot metal, could be the additives in fuel corroded right through. I tried to repair with jb coldwel lasted day, ended up having to get new carb $120 on ebay for japan carby. Slapped it on and bam like new machine.

what does a toro snow blower have to do with a Yamaha outboard site and why would anyone put JB weld on a snapped off screw instead of drilling and removing properly?
